BEING WITH THE BONES
Start the year rooted in your body, clear in yourself, and steady in your direction
A New Year / New Moon Day-Long Retreat for Women in Tom Miner Basin
An intimate, 6-woman gathering woven with somatic work, horses, land, and time together
A day to slow down, remember, and come home to your bones

This is for you if….
-
You want intentional time to close a chapter, release what’s been carried, and let something new begin—without forcing clarity or rushing yourself.
-
You know you’ve been holding more than your body can metabolize, and you’re ready to slow down and actually meet what’s here.
-
You’re craving a deeper sense of freedom, aliveness, and truth in your body—not just awareness, but a felt shift in your bones.
-
You want to reconnect with your own knowing and trust yourself.
-
You crave a space that feels warm, slow, grounded, and honest.
What we’ll do together:
🌑 Mothering the Bones (1:1 Somatic Work)
Holding the bones of the pelvis to support releasing stuck energy and old stories, to help recognize and remember, and come back home to your natural blueprint.
This work supports:
-
Letting go of old patterns and starting a new story
-
Reawakening sensation, vitality, and capacity
-
Creating space in the body for new movement, new choice, and new beginnings
(30-minute individual sessions)
🌑 Being With the Horses
A guided 1:1 experience with the horses, grounded in presence, curiosity, and embodied awareness.
Horses have an incredibly attuned and responsive nervous system. Their reflections help illuminate what’s happening in our bodies and lives, and open up the possibility for healing, bone deep.
You’ll be facilitated through this journey by Malou Anderson, a certified and insured Equus Institute coach, with a background in psychology and a lifetime of partnership with horses.
(30-minute individual sessions)
🌑 Being With the Land
Letting the land hold you.
Letting it teach you.
Letting the bones rest.
The land is an anchor for integration, grounding, and remembering your place within a larger rhythm.
🌑 Journaling + Being Together
Spacious time to reflect, write, integrate experiences, share if desired, or simply be in quiet presence with others.
No pressure to perform or produce — just space to be with yourself in a safe, held container with other women.
🌑 Nourishment + Shared Meal
A nourishing lunch together — being well-fed women who get to be supported and filled up by eachother.
🌑 Circle + Movement
An opening and closing circle with movement, somatic tools, and breath.
Marking the threshold of the New Moon and the New Year — orienting to your own endings and beginnings, from the body outward.

FAQ's
Where is it exactly?
Grizzy Creek Ranch & Retreat Center 533 Tom Miner Creek Rd, Emigrant, MT
What if the weather's bad?
This retreat will be held rain or shine. We’ll be working closely with the land and the elements, and if weather requires adjustments, we’ll adapt the flow of the day and the horse work to ensure safety and care while preserving the integrity of the experience.
Is my spot refundable if I can’t attend?
Because this retreat is limited to six women and your spot is held specifically for you, all payments are non-refundable. Your registration reserves space, resources, and individual session time that cannot be reallocated once booked.
Do I need prior experience with somatic work or horses?
No. All work is guided and supported. You’ll be met exactly where you are, whether this is your first time or you’re already familiar with body-based or equine-assisted work.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in as well as weather-appropriate clothing for outdoors. You may also want to bring a journal, water bottle, and any layers that help you stay comfortable.
Will I be required to participate in everything?
You’ll be invited into each part of the day, but you are always encouraged to listen to your body. Rest, journaling, or quiet integration are welcome if that’s what’s needed.
Is this retreat physically or emotionally intense?
The work can be deep, but it is paced, grounded, and supportive. The intention is not catharsis for its own sake, but increased capacity, clarity, and internal support. You’ll be guided to stay within what feels manageable and resourcing for you.
What kind of support will be available throughout the day?
You’ll be held in a small, intentional group with direct 1:1 support during your somatic and horse sessions, as well as ongoing facilitation and care throughout the day.
Wha't the "Mothering the Bones" Pelvic Work look like?
This is done with clothes on, and we move at the pace that feels right for you. First, we start with just getting your legs and system here in the room together. You’ll be lying comfortably on a sheepskin as we begin by helping your legs and nervous system settle and arrive in the space. From there, if and when it feels appropriate, I may place one hand on your sacrum and one hand on your pubic bone, gently holding the pelvis between my hands. This creates a container of support so the body can begin to unwind, reorganize, and release what it’s been holding—at a nervous-system level. There’s nothing you need to do or perform. We listen together for what arises and meet it with presence and care. In my experience, this work is less about “doing” and more about offering enough support for the body to do what it naturally knows how to do. The sessions are consistently potent, meaningful, and deeply restorative.
What's the food like?
We will have a nourishing shared lunch of a hearty Chicken Thai Stew (GF/DF) and fresh-baked bread (GF option), as well as snacks, tea, and treats throughout the day.
