What Letting Go of Effort Actually Means in the Body
Ooooo mama. I want more ease. I crave it. Do you?
Ease has come up a lot in my session work this week.
I have so many clients who come to me battling the underlying baseline of stress, anxiety, and needing to constantly do in order to keep up. They are exhausted with the effort they exude in constantly rearranging themselves to feel ok.
A few weeks ago in a workshop, my teachers said, "We've lost the ability to rest in ourselves and simply respond to life without editing, hiding, or over-efforting."
Yes. Do you feel that?
Many people don’t realize that what they’re actually craving is letting go of effort in how they meet life moment to moment.
How Over-Efforting Becomes a Pattern of Survival
We get used to over-efforting and invest so much energy into stopping the waves of our daily experience that we end up in these limited, frustrated, disillusioned selves, that give up on what we really want.
This all happens in the body.
Letting go of effort isn’t about doing less—it’s about releasing the constant internal bracing against experience. A big part of letting go of effort is noticing how much energy goes into managing, editing, or controlling how we show up.
Learning how to drop effort is how you create freedom in your life.
When we learn how to drop effort, rest in ourselves, trust ourselves, and simply respond to life with natural ease and presence.......everything changes.
How to Begin Letting Go of Effort in Everyday Life
In the body, letting go of effort often feels like softening unnecessary tension and returning to a more natural state of presence. As letting go of effort becomes more embodied, people often experience more ease, clarity, and responsiveness in daily life.
We don’t need more ideas of freedom, we need to feel it in our bones, tissues, and muscles.
